Time to Care is a five-year programme designed to ensure every patient who is admitted to our mental health wards receives high quality care to support their long term health.
We have worked with patients, staff and partners to create a new model of care based on learning from the past and the latest national and international expert guidance for best practice.
We’ve recruited 339 additional clinical and non-clinical posts to expand the skills and capacity of the multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) on our wards. These include nurses, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, activity co-coordinators, family and carer ambassadors, peer workers and occupational therapists.
In line with the latest NHS England guidance and clinical best practice, people are only admitted to our wards if the care they need can only be provided in hospital and there is a clear purpose and therapeutic benefit.
Patients have a clear care plan and path to discharge, and work with their families, clinicians and other health and social care organisations to decide what care and treatment best meets their needs.
