Children’s Occupational Therapy support

Children’s occupational therapists (OTs) work with children and young people aged 0 to 18. Focusing on meaningful activities they need, want or are expected to do in their daily life such as getting washed and dressed, playing with toys, or going to school.

The team have produced some useful leaflets to help children learn basic skills such as learning to get dressed and how to use a knife and fork.

Watching videos from a first-person view can help children with co-ordination difficulties learn everyday movements.

Why does it help?

Reduces confusion compared to watching someone from the side.
The child sees what the movement looks like from their own eyes.
It makes copying the movement easier because it feels familiar.
Helps the child understand the steps in the right order.
Builds confidence by showing clear examples.
