Providing care for adults with mental health needs, including therapy, assessments, and outreach services in Braintree and Maldon.

Urgent Support and Help

Call 111 and select the mental health option to speak to our 24 hour mental health crisis line.

If you are with someone who has attempted suicide, call 999 and stay with them until the ambulance arrives. 

If anyone is at serious risk of harm, call 999 and ask for the police. 

For non-life threatening medical situations, call NHS111 on 111.

Adult community mental health service for Braintree and Maldon districts

Our service

We help people with mental health problems by giving support, treatment, and care plans that fit their needs.

Our team includes different professionals but not limited:

  • Psychiatrists (mental health doctors)
  • Psychologists (talking therapy specialists)
  • Community nurses
  • Social workers
  • Occupational therapists (help with daily living skills)
  • Support workers and employment specialists

What we do

  • A duty service from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday for both urgent and non-urgent help.
  • Outpatient appointments.
  • Care coordination and short-term support to help you work towards your goals.
  • Assessments and safety checks, including safeguarding and mental capacity assessments, for people we already support.
  • Occupational therapy groups to help with everyday skills and wellbeing.

How it works

  • When you are referred to our service, we do an assessment to find out what help you need.
  • We then match you with the right professionals, which might include a nurse, social worker, therapist, or others from our team.

Referral

Referrals come through the Primary Care Mental Health Service, Inpatient wards, other community mental health teams, CAMHS, social care

This service helps people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and who are also struggling with their mental health.

What we do

  • We support people who are sleeping rough or at risk of homelessness to get the health care and mental health support they need.
  • We also help people who are already getting health care to find or keep safe housing.
  • Our team works closely with Braintree District Council, Epping Forest District Council, and other partner organisations to find and support people who are rough sleeping and may need help with their mental health.

Referral

Referrals are received from teams within EPUT, as well as Braintree and Epping Forest district councils and other partner organisations

If you or someone you know is rough sleeping, please raise a streetlink alert www.streetlink.org.uk

We include people’s friends and family in care planning. The team performs carer assessments to reflect their role in the care plan. We encourage nearest relatives and next of kin to take part in decisions made with them about their care.

Visiting The Gables

There is no available parking on site for service users due to the number of staff working from the building and the need to be able to swiftly exit to see patients in the community.

For those with disabled badges, there is the option of parking outside on the double yellow lines for three hours.

Alternative parking can be found at: Sainsbury’s, Howard Hall and George yard.
