Service information
We offer the following treatments for the Treatment Resistant Depression:
Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS)
Using magnetic stimulation to target the part of the brain that regulates mood. EPUT started providing this service since 2015 and will continue to use rTMS to treat depression and anxiety.
rTMS is recommended for people suffering from depression who either failed to improve with other treatments (such as medications and therapy) or if antidepressants are not suitable. To be eligible for the treatment, the person should have a diagnosis of depression or mixed anxiety and depression. It is a non-invasive treatment that does not require any needles or anesthetic and can be done without a stay in hospital.

Esketamine (nasal spray)
An antidepressant medication that can be administered with other oral administered antidepressant especially effective for people with depression which does not respond to other treatments.
Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT)
A measured electrical current is passed through the brain to reduce symptoms of either depression, mania, or catatonia.
Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS)
Involves the surgical implantation of a pacemaker-like device called a pulse generator in the chest and stimulates the left cervical vagus nerve. This stimulation appears to change brain wave patterns and help reduce or eliminate symptoms of depression.
