More information

I am a retired Social Worker and Youth Worker who has lived in Southend for more than 40 years. I have also been a volunteer for a number of voluntary sector organisations, roles including Trustee for the Trust Links mental health Charity and Chair of the Board of Trustees for SEND the Right Message, supporting neurodivergent children and families. I have cared for my neurodivergent father for many years and continue to care for my neurodivergent son.
This means that I have had both personal and professional experience of mental health services. I have also been a member of my local Patient Participation Group as well as a number of expert by experience and patient voice groups and am very passionate about co-production and patient involvement, which has brought me to this role.

I have previously been a ward councillor within Southend City Council so have a good understanding of local government and the need to work in partnership to achieve the best outcomes for individuals.

Currently living with Cancer, I am very reliant upon health services for my own care and appreciate the importance of decision making in this arena. I look forward to making a positive contribution to the Board, working alongside my fellow governors.
