Richard is a former BT director whose career in the UK and abroad spanned commercial business development, strategy, partnerships, corporate social responsibility, organisational culture and leadership development.

Since 2018 he has held a portfolio career, serving as an advisor to Ofcom until November 2024 as a member of the Communications Consumer Panel and Advisory Committee for Older and Disabled People.

He is the Senior Independent Director of East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) until his 7-year term comes to an end later in 2025.

He has also been a trustee of two Colchester-based charities providing supported housing to homeless people, his current involvement focusing particularly on young adults who have found themselves in crisis.
