Staff and patients at our specialist unit caring for frail and elderly patients, Rawreth Court in Rayleigh, was proud to support a wonderful cause – the Clapton Pearly Queen Toy Appeal.
The appeal which is led by Teresa Watts, aims to collect toys for hospitals, children’s homes and families in need.
Thanks to the generosity of our staff and residents’ families, Rawreth Court made an incredible contribution, donating a wide range of toys that will bring joy to children this festive season.
To celebrate the success of the appeal, Teresa visited Rawreth Court to thank everyone personally. Dressed in her iconic Pearly Queen attire which featured 36,000 mother-of-pearl buttons and a hat adorned with ostrich feathers she shared stories about the tradition of Pearly Kings and Queens and the charitable work they do year round.
Claire Davis, activities co-ordinator at Rawreth Court, said: “It was a lovely day and the patients really enjoyed hearing all about the Pearly Queen Toy Appeal. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this year’s toy appeal such a success. Your kindness will make a real difference to families who need it most.
