Nursing home celebrates summer party

Residents, families and staff at a Westcliff nursing home recently held their annual summer party.

Clifton Lodge provides care for older people living with dementia and is run by Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT).

This year’s summer party was themed around the Mamma Mia! musical and saw residents, families, staff, volunteers and guests enjoy food, music and dancing.

Pippa Crocket, nursing home manager, said: “Many families attended to see their loved one have a good time and joined in the entertainment.

“We also had many loved ones attend the party who have remained in contact with Clifton even though their loved ones have passed away.

“They are now ‘Friends of Clifton’ and we have at least three families that have remained supporting us for five years.

“These wonderful families get involved with all the activities and enjoy supporting with those added extras to enhance our residents’ stay at Clifton. This includes keeping our gardens looking beautiful, and providing decorations, snacks and toiletries.”

“We are very grateful for all their support.”

Councillor Anne Jones, who is Deputy Mayor of Southend-on-Sea City Council and a regular visitor to Clifton, also attended, and there was music from local singer Tracey Lea.

About EPUT:

  • EPUT provides services to more than 100,000 patients at any one time and our staff are focused on providing high quality care in often complex situations.
  • The organisation has invested in inpatient facilities and community services to make them safer and more therapeutic.     • People with lived experience have been employed in designated roles across the Trust, ensuring patient voice is heart of the organisation and all that we do.
    • A number of new initiatives have been launched, helping people access the support they need when they need it most. These include a mental health urgent care department, By Your Side maternal mental health service, Rough Sleeper team, mental health crisis ambulance cars, virtual wards and neuromodulation service.
  • EPUT was formed on 1 April 2017 and provides community health, mental health and learning disability services across Essex, Luton and Bedfordshire and Suffolk.  We employ more than 7,200 staff working across more than 200 sites.
