Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) has more than doubled its recruitment of newly qualified nurses.
Over the next two months EPUT will welcome 107 newly qualified nurses, who will provide crucial support to wards and services across the trust.
Nelson Dauramanzi, one of the newly qualified nurses, said “I joined EPUT as a student nurse at a very critical time during the peak of COVID-19. The team I worked with at Wood Lea Clinic were incredibly supportive and gave me the best mentorship I have ever experienced. I’m so pleased to be joining EPUT permanently – I really can’t think of anywhere better to start my nursing career.”
Many of the new recruits supported the trust’s wards as aspirant nurses during the peak period of COVID-19. The trust built relationships with the student nurses and promoted opportunities during this time, which led to a significant increase in applications and recruitment to permanent nurse roles.
Twenty of the newly qualified nurses are joining after completing the apprenticeship scheme.

EPUT ran a recruitment campaign across Essex and surrounding areas to attract nurses. ‘Many faces of the NHS’ promoted different roles at the trust on billboard sites at Southend and Stansted airports.
