Volunteers are holding a pre-loved clothes sale to raise money to buy new underwear for patients in need at acute mental health wards run by EPUT.
The pop-up shop will be held at North Avenue Christian Centre, North Avenue, Chelmsford, on Saturday 15 November from 10am-2pm. Entry is free and items cost from £1. Tea, coffee and cake will also be available.
Roots of Hope Community Interest Company, a non-profit organisation, is running the event as part of its Community Clothes Cycle project.
It was started by a group of peer workers to provide free, second-hand clothes to patients receiving mental health inpatient care, and new items such as underwear.
They had noticed there was a real need for some patients who didn’t have many clothes for many reasons, such as because they couldn’t afford them, didn’t have friends or family to bring them clothes, or they had lost or gained weight.
You can find out more about Roots of Hope on social media. A fundraising page has also been set up for anyone who would like to make a donation.
