Neurodevelopmental studies

​​Neurodevelopmental explorations and disorders are included here, the latter covering a wide range of difficulties, including but not limited to:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Cerebral Palsy

Summary

How and if the structure and organisation of services (“service models”) affects any outcomes of children with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Behaviours that Challenge (BtC) and their families, and what their experiences of services are. Children, families and some staff will be interviewed about their experiences receiving and delivery care and how to improve the services.

Inclusion criteria

​For the services:

1. They were a service included in the analysis MELD Study stage 1.

2. Nothing significant changed in their service module since stg 1.

For children referred/referred to services included in MELD Study Stage 2:

1. Child (aged 0-15) has LD as defined administratively by service. 

2. Child referred for support re BtC, at least in part. 

3. Child’s parental caregiver consents to take part in the research. 

4. Child’s parental caregiver able to complete study in English. 

​5. Consent from parental caregiver obtained prior to partaking. 

Exclusion criteria

For the services:

1. Services established less than 1 year, with little chance to become reasonably stable within current study timeframe.

2. Services with typical re-/ referral rate over 6 months of fewer than 10 children.

3. Services indicating at Stage 1 of MELD Study they would not wish to be contacted about involvement in Stage 2.

4. Co-applicants Lovell and Liew’s services – to address potential conflicts of interest.
