Peer Support Workers (PSWs) are people who have their own experience of mental health challenges and recovery. They use their lived experience to support others who may be going through similar experiences.

Our Peer Support Workers are part of mental health teams across EPUT. They understand that everyone’s experience is different, but their own experiences can help them connect with people in a way that feels genuine and relatable.
Peer Support Workers can offer encouragement, understanding and hope. By sharing what has helped them on their own journey, they can show that recovery is possible and support people to find what works for them.

Having someone who has been through their own mental health challenges can also help people feel less alone. Peer Support Workers listen without judgement and provide a safe, supportive space where people can talk about their experiences, build confidence and think about their own hopes and goals.
